Restore empty Most Frequently Used Programs list

« Back :: Tagged with Hacks :: HowTo's :: Windows XP ::

A while back ago I used a Windows XP tweak program. Some time after that the list with the most freaquently used programs in the start menu disappeared. It took a while to figure out what caused this, especially as I uninstalled this tweaking program and forgot which one it was. ResolutionIf you have tried everything else, like clearing the list and setting number of icons to something more than 0, then there is just a register hack left to try. Delete or change the value of the entry NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList and NoInstrumentation for the following places in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Remember to backup the registry before any changes just in case something would go wrong.
